Now That's What I Call Music! 4 was released on July 18, 2000. The album is the fourth edition of the (U.S.) Now series. It peaked at number 8 and 10 on the Billboard 200 and has been certified 2x Platinum by the RIAA. The compilation includes two songs which reached the Billboard Hot 100: "I Knew I Loved You" and "Try Again".

The cover is inspired by the NOW 41 UK cover released in 1998.
